ATTICUS SCROLL - JOURNEY OF THE PHARAOH

In 1837, a young British Egyptologist, John Atticus, set out on an expedition with a small team from Luxor to a little known area in the Western Desert called the Valley of Agabat near Farafra. Its brilliant white landscape and caves were things of legend as very few ever ventured into the unforgiving desert. One afternoon while out surveying, a fierce sandstorm quickly emerged and savagely swept through the valley turning the afternoon sky nearly black. Too far from camp, John searched desperately for shelter as the storm raged on. Near a small rock outcropping, he found an opening just large enough for him to squeeze into. Tucked away, he breathed a sigh of relief…his heart still racing.

After some time, the winds of the great sandstorm grew fainter and fainter, and John emerged covered in sand and dust. The intensity of the storm had shifted the landscape, and he struggled to orient himself towards camp. It was then that he noticed a small clay jar still half-buried. John brushed away the sand, briefly inspected the hieroglyphs on the outside, stuffed it in his satchel, and headed back to camp.

When he arrived, it was nearly dark…the camp empty and battered from the storm. Exhausted, John retreated to his tent. Under the dim light of a small torch, he examined the small clay jar he had found. Its intricate hieroglyphs were faded but readable. With great care, he slowly loosened the sealed lid and delicately removed the scroll inside. Contained within the scroll was the one true way for a Pharaoh to navigate from this world to the afterlife.
